I am who you are
2024
Material
Installation consisting of a spray-painted branch with old embroidered textile works dipped in porcelain and wax.
Description
This piece, created as part of a school assignment titled ”I am who you are,” is rooted in family research and focuses on the women in my family tree. It explores their forgotten passions and how female artistic expression has historically been viewed as decoration rather than “fine art.” The work consists of handpicked Swedish embroidery, dipped in porcelain and then wax, symbolizing three artistic practices often used by women in the home. It serves as a tribute to the often invisible contributions women have made to art and culture throughout history.
